On June 7th, we had 7 teams compete in an evening of dodgeball. We saw teams dominate! We saw David’s defeat Goliaths! We saw upsets and games that came down to a Showdown! There were many victories, and just as many losses because we ended up playing close to 50 games of dodgeball that night! Congrats to The Scrubs for their overall victory. Their name has been added to the coveted Dodgeball Tournament Plaque, and we look forward to competing again next year!

This year, we had enough middle schoolers to take their own mission trip! 11 Students and 3 adults journeyed to Indianapolis, Indiana to work with an organization called Wheeler Mission. Wheeler Mission is over 125 years old, and has been ministering to the homeless community in Indiana since it’s beginning. Check out their website to find out more information about the services they provide. They truly take to heart what Jesus says in Matthew 25:35-36.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Matthew 25:35-36 NIV
Our students served meals to over a hundred men. We spent hours cleaning their kitchen and eating area, while also prepping food for the coming meals. Our team spent much of one day sorting clothes that were donated to Wheeler Mission’s Donation Center. Though the task was tedious, the results speak for themselves. Our service that day helped provide over 300 free meals, and helped bring in a few thousand dollars to help support the ministry.
For many of the students, their most favorite experience was on Friday evening, where we provided entertainment for the Wheeler Mission Center for Women and Children. That evening the students led charades and BINGO, as well as prayer for the evening. We were able to share the message of Christ with them, and some women at the end of our time stuck around for prayer and conversation. To hear more about our time in Indianapolis, though, I’d encourage you to ask one of the students that went.
My favorite memory was playing and entering the women and children. They were so thankful and excited. It was so much fun to chat and listen to the sweet ladies’ stories. Most of them were excited to talk about their Jesus story. I specifically talked to Jackie, an elderly woman and she was so appreciative and sweet. I loved serving the entire weekend!

My favorite memory is when I was wearing the cowboy hat and the dude who was legally blind with the glasses and cane said, “I like your hat.” He kept complimenting it and I told him my name and he said, “that’s James, he is cool.”

My favorite memory for this trip is probably helping the women’s shelter. It was a lot of fun see how the women interacted with each other. Someone told me that they typically do not interact with each other so when they did they made it count. Also just helping them have fun and see how they help each other, like when they got a bingo they would give it to someone who has not got it yet, and also helping people that have a disability.

My favorite thing about this trip was to pray over the women and help to fold the clothes and get rid of them and put in boxes.

My favorite thing this week was seeing their smiles and appreciation of us being there. I loved seeing them be happy and it makes me feel good and know I did a good thing.

I enjoyed playing bingo with a lady named Cecilia. We got really close and really bonded. She was really appreciative that of us and gave most of us hugs
