REGARDING OUR UPCOMING SUNDAY (OCT. 25th) SERVICE

Dear Parents and Church Family,

Through much prayer and careful observation, our church staff felt it would be important to make you aware of the content we’ll be discussing at our Sunday service on October 25th. During this service, we will be discussing the topic of abortion and the sanctity of human life. As part of our time together, we will also have a member of ECC share a personal testimony of their own journey through an abortion experience, highlighting the immense grace, healing, and redemption found in Jesus Christ.

Our Heart Behind This Service

We know that this is a deeply personal and sensitive subject to some, therefore our intention is to approach this conversation with the sensitivity and delicacy that it deserves. We want to point our church family toward the truth of God’s Word while providing a safe place for healing, hope, and understanding.

Because our youth and children’s groups are such a vital part of our ministry, we wanted to be proactive in letting parents know ahead of time. We deeply respect your authority as parents and want to give you the opportunity to decide how best to navigate this conversation with your younger children.

How You Can Prepare

If your children typically sit with you in the main service, we encourage you to consider whether you would prefer them to attend our Children’s Ministry programming on this particular Sunday, or if you would like to use this as an opportunity for a conversation at home beforehand.

This Sunday is also the 4th Sunday of the month, typically meaning our preteens would be present in the service. However, this particular Sunday the preteens will join us for our time of worship through music, and then will be dismissed to attend a preteen class for parents who feel their child(ren) aren’t quite ready to hear about this topic.

If you do feel your child is ready, though, they are encouraged to stay in the service. If that is the case, we highly recommend having a conversation with them before this Sunday to make them aware of the topic so they will not be caught off-guard. To the parents of teens, this is also a great opportunity to have a similar conversation with your children if they will be attending the service that day.

We believe that God will be present and The Holy Spirit will move through this message, bringing restoration and truth to light. As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me (Pastor Josh) directly. We would love to talk with you.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy week to read this and for being such a vital part of our church body.

In Christ,
Joshua Harpold
