Passion Week (aka Holy Week)
Join us for worship gatherings during Passion Week, which is the culmination of the Lenten season, leading to the glorious celebration of Resurrection morning.
- HOLY MONDAY – Marks Jesus’ return to Jerusalem, where he encounters a fig tree and dramatically clears the Temple. 6 to 8 pm: stations open in the Great Room for prayer and devotions. These are kid friendly and you can visit one or more stations at your own pace. 6:30/7:15 pm: identical worship/prayer gatherings in the Gathering Area.
- HOLY TUESDAY – The conspiracies to trap Jesus escalate, and Jesus pronounces seven condemnations on the religious establishment. 6 to 8 pm: stations. 6:30/7:15 pm: worship and prayer gatherings.
- HOLY WEDNESDAY – Remembering when Judas Iscariot conspires with the religious council to betray Jesus. 6 to 8 pm: stations. 6:30/7:15 pm: worship and prayer gatherings.
- MAUNDY THURSDAY – Commemorating the last meal Jesus shares with his disciples prior to his arrest and crucifixion. Jesus institutes the new covenant, illustrated by communion (or Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper). He also defines the prevailing characteristic of his followers: love-motivated service. 6:30 pm: Love Feast and Communion.
- GOOD FRIDAY – The sky turned dark for three hours the afternoon Jesus completed his mission to ransom all of humanity to the Father, a price that was the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless lamb of God. 7 pm: worship and prayer in the Gathering Area.
- HOLY SATURDAY – A vigil during which we recall the seeming hopelessness after the Son of God was laid in a tomb. We reflect on the Gospel story as told from Genesis on: how the events of Jesus’ life were prophesied hundreds, even thousands, of years earlier. 5:30/6:30/7:30 pm: an hour-long meditation on Scripture in West Room 101 (please park near the barn and enter from the back).
Covenant Prayer
Hello Church, this past Sunday I preached on a method of prayer called Covenant Prayer. We looked at two different ways to do covenant prayer. The first was in making a regularly commitment to pray; to find a time and a space to consistently meet with God Almighty.
The second way we looked at Covenant Prayer was through the means of declaring, “Not my will, but Yours.” Embracing God’s desire to own all of us, come whatever circumstances. We practiced this on Sunday using a prayer attributed to John Wesley. Since the sermon, I’ve had a few people ask for me to provide this resource to all, so I figured I’d share the prayer through LifeShare. We used a more modern version of the prayer, but there’s also a more tradition version of the prayer for you Olde English folks!

let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you,

Discover Your Place (DYP) is our four-week course that equips you to learn the importance of serving, and how God has uniquely designed each of us to serve within and beyond the church body as a disciple of Christ. The goal of this class is to understand ourselves and others better as we serve. This makes our ministries even stronger. In short, “We are better together.” Specifically we look at how experiences, personality style, spiritual gifts, talents and your passion all create your ministry profile for serving. It is a great time of discovering together.
PHILIPPIANS: PAUL’S ENCOURAGEMENT
The book of Philippians has offered inspiration, instruction, and challenge for millennia. This four-week course takes a look at how Paul, a man in prison, sends encouragement and compassion for a church who desires to serve and suffer alongside him for the sake of Jesus Christ and the gospel. This course does not require registration to attend, but would be appreciated.
If you have registered for Conquer Series (Men’s), The Quest (Women’s), or The Art of Marriage, you WILL NOT need to register for Session 3 electives.

IMPACT 2018
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ i 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Once again we are preparing to partner with the Eaton First Church of God and possibly other churches for Impact 2018. On Sunday morning, May 20, instead of meeting here at our facility, we will once again gather at the Eaton Performing Arts Center across the street. (No services will be held at our facility that morning.) We will gather for worship and then head out into the community for various spring clean-up projects in public spaces and private homes. For those who are unable to physically participate there will be a prayer service after the worship, to pray for our community. New this year will be a lunch gathering at Seven Mile Park after the service projects.
Even though this is our second year we understand that this is something different than our normal Sunday morning. We know this requires some sacrifice, and believe it will be worth giving up a little of our own comfort in order to love our neighbors. I encourage you to live out your faith in Jesus Christ be being a part of this great gathering.

Baptism
“Have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.” (Romans 6:3-5 NLT)
Christian baptism is an identification. We identify ourselves publicly with Jesus Christ. We declare our personal faith in Him. We acknowledge our dependence upon Jesus Christ and His death alone for our salvation. We are saying, “I am a believer. I belong to Jesus Christ. I am on His side.” If you’re interested in baptism and would like to discuss it with a pastor or elder please contact the office, 456-5507.
Congregational Information Meeting Cancelled
The Congregational Information Meeting regarding the current state of the Church of the Brethren Denomination previously scheduled for Sunday, March 11, has been cancelled. The next meeting will be in early April. More info to come!
