This post concludes our series on the 5 values of Etch. If you’d like to view any of the past four, here they are:
LET GO of our own desires.
REIMAGINE the way we disciple.
REFLECT the image of Christ.
TOGETHER, experiencing God’s story of redemption.
PASS ON the truths of salvation to future generations.
Everyone passes on something, but what will it be? Will we Pass On a love for sports, cooking or gardening? Maybe we Pass On a positive attitude instead of a negative one. But most of all are we Passing On a heart for Christ and his word while ingraining truth into the lives of others?
This is one of the core values Etch is all about: Passing on the truths of Christ to future generations.
2 …I will utter hidden things, things from of old– 3 things we have heard and known, things our [fathers] have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done. [Psalm 78:2b-4 NIV]
Folks, we have an awesome responsibility and privilege to Pass On truths that have been passed down to us onto others. I recently shared with a group how as a teen I had adults investing time in my life by sharing the love of Christ, teaching me morals and values as well coming alongside my parents and seeing my heart accept Christ at 15. I wonder where I would be if those individuals never came into my life! I am thankful they did!
As a young couple Angie and I had a great support system around us as we raised our family. People invested into the lives of our children showing them love and teaching them as they grew. As we grow older I can still see the impact people have had on my life as well as my families. People who have passed on the love of Christ and ingrained truth into the lives of our children. Now that the kids are grown it is still my prayer that God will continue to surround them with godly men and women to walk alongside them as the begin their own lives.
So at Etch our prayer is that we take these truths we have heard and known and share them with others, preparing hearts to stand in a lost and dying world. Passing on the love of Christ so future generations may come to know the truth of Christ and experience his love.
